- You Don’t Believe That You Can Get It:

2. You Don’t Have A Winning Idea:
Your idea must have an economic proposition. It must solve a problem and people must be willing to pay for it.
3. You Don’t Have A Name For The Business:
Name gives your idea/business a unique brand; coming up with a logo for it will make it unique.
4. You have not register the business with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC):

5. You Have not gotten Tax Identification Number (TIN) for the business:

Yes, it is a requirement after you have won any of the grants or loans. If you put it in your application, it will stand you out. It also makes your business look existing. Bank will charge you N10,000 – N15,000 for this.
7. You don’t have a well written detailed Business Plan:
60% of people fail at the business plan stage, either for grant or loan application.

9. You Don’t Apply for Grant Opportunities:
Some people are part of my list, they saw grant opportunities but don’t apply. Most times, it is because of mental laziness. People want money but they don’t want to work.
Some people’s age are limiting factors. Most grants are between 18-35years or 40years. I always advise if you are in this category, get someone, may be your wife to front for you.
10. You don’t review your work with a professional before submission:
Most people can’t pay a professional to review their work. Most times, another eye looking critically at your work will save you of some errors.
11. You Don’t Try Again Because You Were Not Selected In Your 1st, 2nd or 3rd Application:
Quitters never win. Always keep on trying and your opportunity will come one day. The fact that they did not pick you did not means that your business plan or idea is not ok. It is just that they have limited no, of people they want to pick.
12. You did not start the business:
This last one is very important for you to take note. Nobody will give you a loan, if you have not started something about that idea.
Most grants will consider existing business before new business.
At least, if you have not started operations, register the business with CAC and open a corporate account for it.
