What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate marketing is a business pattern whereby one earns commissions by promoting the product or service of a company and building your team of partners. In most cases, the most basic idea of affiliate marketing is simply getting paid for products you buy and cannot do without.
Before one proceeds to become an affiliate of a particular company, the individual must be sure that this company provides goods, and render services that are in high demand. You also need to develop your team and partners who may or may not use these products but have found value in dealing with the company.
Just like every other valid source of income, affiliate marketing is not an avenue to get rich quickly. It is also important to note that affiliate marketing is a lucrative business when there is an interplay of due diligence, commitment, and hard work.
What do I mean?
In affiliate marketing, you begin from a stage when you are on your own, to the point where you start getting commissions from your first set of partners, and finally to the stage where you’ve gained so many partners, till it becoming a passive source of income.

Types of Affiliation

These are persons who use the products of the company they are promoting. They are the visible face of the company, and therefore risk their reputation in an event when the consumers do not derive maximum utility of the product.
This category of affiliates have no idea of the product or service their company offers, and hence cannot recommend this product to others. This type of affiliation revolves around the running of ads and campaigns for products. They are not really interested in building a team.
This refers to affiliates who do not use these products, but have an influence on the media space, and therefore utilize this to market these products. Their work is similar to social media brand influencers. The issue with this type of affiliating lies in the dangers of marketing a product without proof of personal experience.
