Ceramic Manufacturing Companies in Nigeria
Ceramics are inorganic and nonmetallic materials that are necessary for our everyday lives. Ceramics are often manufactured by molding clay, earthy materials, powders, and water into desired shapes. After the ceramic has been molded, it is fired in a kiln, which is a high-temperature oven. Glazes are ornamental, waterproof, paint-like substances that are applied to ceramics.
Ceramics can be found all around us. Tile, bricks, plates, glass, and toilets all fall within this category of materials. Watches (quartz tuning forks- the timekeeping devices in watches), snow skies (piezoelectric-ceramics that stress when a voltage is applied to them), automobiles (sparkplugs and ceramic engine parts seen in racecars), and phone lines are all examples of ceramic items.
Ceramics can be dense or lightweight, depending on how they are made. They usually have great strength and hardness properties, although they are fragile by nature. Ceramics can also be made into electrically conductive materials (things that allow electricity to pass through their bulk) or insulators (materials that prohibit electricity from passing through their mass).
Humans have made ceramics for thousands of years (pottery, glass, and brick are among the oldest human-invented materials), and we’re actively developing new ceramic materials today, such as catalytic converters for today’s cars and high-temperature superconductors for tomorrow’s computers. There are two major types of ceramics:
Which is one of the oldest human technologies. Clay pottery fragments discovered lately in China’s Hunan Province have been carbon-dated to be 17,500–18,300 years old.
Classic, time-tested ceramics include bricks, pottery, glass, porcelain, tiles, cement, and concrete. Despite the fact that they all have various applications, we can still consider them to be general-purpose materials. Take, for example, tiles. We may put them inside or outside our homes, on the walls, floors, or roofs; we can stick glass in our windows or poke at them on our smartphone screens, and we can even sip champagne from them.
Ceramics like this are ancient materials that our forefathers would know, and they’ve steadily gained in popularity as the decades have passed.
- ADVANCED ENGINEERING CERAMICS:
Advanced ceramics, on the other hand, are those that have been developed (mainly from the early twentieth century) for very particular purposes. Silicon nitrides and tungsten carbides, for example, are made to make extremely hard, high-performance cutting tools, but they also have other applications. Metal oxides, carbides, and nitrides are the most common modern manufactured ceramics, which are compounds formed by mixing metal atoms with oxygen, carbon, or nitrogen atoms.
Tungsten carbide, silicon carbide, and boron nitride, for example, are hard cutting-tool ceramics; aluminum oxide (alumina) and silicon dioxide are used in the fabrication of integrated circuits (“microchips”), and lithium-silicon oxide is used to make the heat-protective nose cones on space rockets. Crystals of yttrium, barium, copper, and zinc are used to make high-temperature superconductors.
There are a number of ceramic manufacturing companies in Nigeria, although, over the years, the companies have waned down as we resort to importing ceramics and its finished products, a limited number of these companies will be highlighted below:

CONCLUSION:
Ceramic offers a wide range of applications that many people are unaware of. Like many other materials, ceramics have lately been used in technological processes. The use of ceramics is employed in a variety of high-tech industries, including automotive and aerospace. Ceramics come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Piezoceramics is one of the most common varieties. When pressure is applied to a piezoceramic, it generates an electric charge. During the First World War, piezoceramics were initially utilized to create and detect sonar waves.
Ceramics in whatever form they come, be it tiles, earthenware, Terra-Cotta, stoneware, or clay blocks, have shown to be effective and necessary in our day-to-day living.
