Don Jazzy is a well-known Nigerian figure who has amassed critical praise over the course of a long and distinguished career. One of the best record producers in Nigeria is largely regarded as being Jazzy. Numerous talented singers have worked with his record company and produced some of the best songs and albums. As the CEO and founder of Mavin Records, which has brought him enormous success, he is well-known throughout the entire world. Don Jazzy was also a noted co-owner of the now-defunct record label known as Mo’ Hits Records. The label, which has released a number of highly popular albums and songs, was created by him and D’banj. In addition to his job in the film industry, he has also been in a number of movies, which have contributed to his notoriety.
Biography
Michael Collins Ajereh (popularly known as Don Jazzy), the son of Collins Enebeli Ajereh and Mrs. Ajereh, was born on November 26, 1982, in Umuahia, Abia State. Isoko in Delta State is where his father is from. His father is an Isoko and his mother is a princess of the Igbo tribe from Abia state. Don Jazzy was nurtured by Ajereh’s family in Ajegunle, Lagos. Federal Government College Lagos, a coeducational high school, served as his place of education. Don Jazzy had a passion for music early on and, at the age of 12, started learning how to play the bass guitar and the piano. Additionally, he learned about folk and percussion instruments. Don Jazzy enrolled at Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo State to study business management. His first trip to London was in 2000 when Jazzy’s uncle asked him to perform the drums for a nearby church there. Don Jazzy was hired as a security guard at McDonald’s. He kept up his interest in music by hanging out with D’Banj, Solek, JJC Skillz, Kas, Jesse Jagz, and The 419 Squad.
Career Achievements
Of course, Don Jazzy didn’t wake up one day to be a legend; he actually had to start from nothing. This well-known Afro Pop artist, who has won numerous awards, developed a lifelong passion of music early on. He learned how to play a variety of instruments, which greatly aided his musical career. Don Jazzy wasn’t the kind of person to put education before skill, but he did take it seriously enough to earn his first degree in business management from Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo state. Together with D’Banj, Don Jazzy founded Mo’ Hits Records in 2004. Don Jazzy produced the albums No Long Thing and Rundown/Funk You Up during the course of the following two years. Around this time, Don Jazzy started using the phrase “It’s Don Jazzy Again!” as his signature introduction. In 2008, Don Jazzy received credit for helping D’Banj produce The Entertainer. He also helped with the creation of Mushin 2 MoHits by Wande Coal, which has been hailed as one of the greatest albums to ever come out of Nigeria. Kanye West hired Don Jazzy to work as a producer at Very Good Beatz in 2011. Lift Off, which Beyoncé performs on the album Watch The Throne, was produced by Don Jazzy in collaboration with Jay-Z and Kanye West and was made available on August 8, 2011, as part of the album. Don Jazzy and D’Banj announced their split in March 2012, claiming creative disagreements as the reason.
Don Jazzy announced the launch of Mavin Records on May 7, 2012. According to him, Mavin Records will quickly become the dominant force in African music. He published an album on May 8, 2012, featuring the performers on his label. Amarachi, Forever, Oma Ga, Take Banana and Chocolate, YOLO, and the anthem “I’m an MAVIN” were among the tracks on the album. Tiwa Savage was signed by Mavin Records as a vocalist. To support and promote his label, Don Jazzy created the “Marvin League” social media platform. Ajereh and artist Wande Coal had a fight on November 5, 2013, and Coal departed the label two days later. With Reekado Banks and Di’Ja, Ajereh co-wrote and co-produced the Nigerian social activist song “Arise” in September 2014.
Ajereh and Olamide had a disagreement at the 2015 Headies Awards. The winner of the “Next Rated” award was a topic of contention between the two. Reekado Banks, an artist for Ajereh, defeated Lil Kesh of YBNL Records. The prize winner received a vehicle. Afterward, both parties posted regrets. Reekado Banks left the Mavin Records label, but Don Jazzy insisted that he was still a member of the family and wished him the best of luck in his future endeavors. He also thanked him for his time with Mavin Records. He signed Rema in 2019 before bringing on Ayra Starr to his record label in 2020. He revealed Magixx as a new artist in 2021. He explained why he never signed Davido on April 7, 2021.

In 2003, Don Jazzy wed Michelle Jackson. He asserts that they split up approximately two years after being married because of problems that they both experienced as a result of his ambition. But he has no immediate plans to be married again out of concern that his devotion to and love for music would offend someone once more. D’Prince is the younger brother of Ajereh. He shared the news of his mother’s passing on Instagram in July 2022.
