Biography
Ojei was born in Lagos in 1951 and completed his early education there before transferring to Issele-Uku Technical College in Issele-Uku, Delta State, where he earned an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Business Administration and Management between 1970 and 1972. He is a recipient of an honorary doctorate from Delta State University in Abraka, Delta State, Nigeria.
Ojei’s Business Career and Achievements
One year after receiving his OND, Ojei began working as a Sales Executive for Rutam Motors Limited, a division of the Ibru Group. He left his job as a sales manager in 1976 to start his own car service business. He made his debut in the insurance industry in March 1977 when he started working for Unity Kapital Assurance Plc, where he eventually held the position of director. In order to consolidate and synchronize his various businesses, Nuel Ojei made the decision to establish Nuel Ojei Holdings Limited (NOH) in 1989 as a result of his expanding commercial activities.
After 30 years, NOH has developed into a titan in the Nigerian economy. One of the biggest corporations in the world, it has more than a dozen affiliates and companies that work in a variety of sectors, such as banking and insurance, oil and gas, solid minerals, energy, and telecommunications, among others. With a wide international network of reputable technical partners, NOH has worked on a range of high-end projects, including cutting-edge technology in the domains of power and energy, aviation, safety and security, shipping and shipbuilding, oil and gas, and more. He goes by the name Nuel Ojei and has amassed a conglomerate that has made him one of the biggest employers in Nigeria. He is in charge of a sizable company that has a diverse portfolio of companies in a number of the most lucrative economic sectors.
Ojei is a brilliant businessman and investor. He persevered despite all obstacles to establish himself as a significant player in a variety of business disciplines. One of NOH’s most significant businesses is Nuel Auto Distributors Limited (Nad), which was founded in 1981 as a sole agent of Mazda Motor Corporation, Japan. Another noteworthy aspect of his career is his association with Mercedes Benz Servicing. In November 2008, Weststar Associates Limited, Mercedes-Benz’s only representative in Nigeria, inked a contract with NAD to manage the country’s authorized Mercedes-Benz service facility. Through its ten years of involvement in the auto business, NAD has established itself as a significant player in Nigeria’s transportation industry and significantly aided in the development of the nation.

His Petroleum and Gas Investment
Within the group (Emo Oil), The Emo Oil and Petrochemical Enterprise Limited (Emo) is another business creating waves. The company engages in the following activities: exploration, exploitation, and production of crude oil; lifting of crude; import and export of petroleum products; and consultation for gas and pipeline integrity projects.

- Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Economic Growth and Development Center (EGDC).
- The EGDC is a non-governmental organization with the goal of eradicating extreme poverty and hunger while fostering economic progress.
