FATE Foundation in partnership with Centre for the Promotion of Export in Developing Countries (CBI) is pleased to announce the call for applications for the virtual training for Entrepreneurs in the Ginger sector in Nigeria to drive more inclusion.
The Youth Inclusion in Nigeria’s Ginger SectorTraining Programme is sponsored by the Centre for Promotion of Imports (CBI), Netherlands which targets young aspiring entrepreneurs who are in the ideation or early stage of business existence and provide access to information, knowledge, skills, and support to enable young people leverage opportunities within the ginger sector to start grow and scale sustainable businesses. Following up from the baseline study which ended in May 2021, this programme aims to:
- Assess and identify market opportunities and equip youths to explore such opportunities
- Build business management skills in participants
- Provide hands-on and experience-based learning across general and specific segments of the value chain.
- Drive inclusion in the Ginger sector in Nigeria to enable young people participate in the sector
To qualify, entrepreneurs must have a minimum of Senior Secondary school education with a preference for Tertiary school graduates who have viable businesses and have already launched across the value chain of the Ginger sector, be computer literate must have access to and be able to use a digitally enabled device and must be aged between 18-35 years old.
You will also be required to upload the relevant documents indicated below:

Curriculum overview
The programme is a virtual 8-weeks enterprise education programme focused on capacity building on essential knowledge, strategies, skills, and tools to build sustainable businesses within the Agribusiness and Ginger Sector in Nigeria. Based on our research we identified the dearth of youth participation and inclusion in the Ginger Sector in Nigeria, our curriculum is crafted to help more young people to start, grow and scale their businesses across the Ginger value chain in Nigeria.
Using adult learning techniques, the curriculum is very practical, participant-led, interactive and hands-on using workshop styles, case studies, and individual follow up. The Facilitators are experienced professionals in key subjects such as Agricultural Ginger Value Chain, and Financial Literacy while focus will also be on ensuring motivating and insightful sessions from entrepreneurial leaders in this sector. The robust learning structure is a combination of virtual interactive class sessions, workshops, case studies, entrepreneurship book reviews, plenary sessions, master classes, group activities industry and excursion visits.

Application Process
Stage I: Interested applicants must complete the application form here and upload the following documents:
- A Profile Picture (headshot facing camera)
- W.A.E.C. or NECO certificate or Statement of Tertiary Education Result/Certificate
- Birth Certificate
- Curriculum vitae
- Valid means of Identification
Stage II: Following a review of all received applications, candidates will be shortlisted for a 10–20-minute phone/video interview after which 30 applicants will be selected for the programme.
Through the support of CBI, the programme is FREE to all entrepreneurs who successfully scale through the two application stages. This scholarship support from CBI covers all direct course fees including course materials, books, data support and post programme support.
This is a virtual training, and it is expected that each entrepreneur enrolled for the programme must be from the location/state where you have applied for the programme. This will also be verified during the shortlisting/selection process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can apply?
To be eligible, you must:
- Aged 18 – 35 years
- Own a Business that operates across the Ginger sector in Nigeria
- Valid means of identification
When can I apply?
Applications will be open from January 31, 2022. We recommend applicants to register by 4 weeks before the start of the programme.
How many Entrepreneurs are you selecting?
Thirty (30) Entrepreneurs
Is there a fee to participate?
No, the programme is free of charge.
All qualified applicants will be contacted. Once you are contacted, then your application was successful.
Will there be weekend classes?
No, there would be no weekend classes.
No. Once you have submitted, changes can no longer be made.
What time involvement expected of participants?
Weekday classes (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
Can a member of my team replace me in the programme?
No. Only the business owner/founder/co-founder that applied for this programme is allowed to participate.
