MS Word Isn’t Only For Academic Writing
Microsoft is probably the format you use, whether it’s a high school English paper or a college thesis for a final exam. Word is often the preferred format for academic writing, but this doesn’t mean you’re not going to use it in your career. Freelancers and business teams often turn to Word, even if the file comes in another format, and a great example is a PDF.
While PDF is a globally accepted format, it has its own issues—and these are usually when you want to convert PDF to Word files online. But why choose MS Word over other formats? After all, it’s not your only option. There are a few advantages to Word that go beyond its use in the classroom.
Word is Friendly
When we imply that Word is friendly, we’re not suggesting that the format is going to tell you hello and inquire about your day. While you may appreciate a friendly question, Word isn’t quite that personable
Word has a familiar interface and is also relatively easy to use. Sure, Word has some advanced features, but if you’re only making edits to content, it doesn’t get much easier than with Microsoft Word. There’s even a handy editing tab in the toolbar to help you get started.
So, if the last time you used Word was back in freshman high school English, no worries. While there have been a few tweaks, Word is still the same simple, easy, and friendly format you remember. For businesses, converting PDFs to Word often means zero additional training for staff, and this is a great way of reducing operating costs.
Multiple Formatting Options
Sometimes, you need to switch up a document’s format. Maybe it’s changing the font size or style. Word makes it easy to do this and more. You can adjust heading size, play with the margins, and so much more.
Finding these options isn’t difficult. Once again, head to the toolbar at the top of the document. You’ll find tabs to help with everything from the design to its layout. You can even use ready-to-use templates.

Encourages Collaboration and Sharing
Microsoft Word makes it incredibly easy to collaborate with others. You can take advantage of tools like comments and even track each other’s changes. Using the comments tool, teams can easily work simultaneously on the same document, whether they’re in the same office or the field.
You can leave suggestions for additional changes or even congratulate each other on a job well done. Sharing a Word document is just as easy. Provide access to the person you want to edit the Word file.
Eliminate Embarrassing Spelling Errors
Word comes with a built-in spell check and grammar feature. If you mistype a word, the spell check will underline the potential issue. From there, you can accept or ignore the spelling or punctuation suggestion.
You can even build up a Word dictionary as you go. If you’re worried about sending a document filled with typos to your boss or having them pop up during a presentation, Word can help ensure everything is error-free.
