Then, what is Nigerian Bottling Company? Nigerian Bottling Company Ltd (NBC) was incorporated in November 1951 as a subsidiary of the Leventis Group with the franchise to bottle and sell products of The Coca‑Cola Company in Nigeria. The company is based in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, and has 13 bottling plants, 28 commercial territories, and 57 distribution terminals.
Also, NBC has the franchise to market Fanta, Sprite, Schweppes, Ginger Ale, Limca, Krest, Parle Soda, and Five Alive. In 2000, NBC became a member of the newly formed Coca‑Cola Hellenic Bottling Company S.A. (an anchor bottling group with operations in 28 countries worldwide.) In November 2011, NBC became the first Nigerian company to receive the Food Safety System (FSSC 22000) certification.
NBC has eleven bottling facilities in Nigeria which provide supplies to various depots for further distribution to wholesalers and suppliers. NBC has established or acquired factories producing raw materials in its supply chain. It established a maize farm at Agenebode, Edo State, to produce fructose syrup, acquired interest in Crown cork facilities in Ijebu Ode, and a glass-making factory in Delta State. The Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) also partners with other beverage businesses such as Monster Energy, Edrington, and Brown-Forman to sell their products.
The supply chain director of the NBC, Chantoumakos, relishes the Nigerian Bottling Company’s central role in Coca-Cola Hellenic’s global strategy. “Coca-Cola Hellenic operates in 28 countries, offering opportunities to live and work in very different markets and societies. Strengths
Coca-cola’s bottling system is one of their greatest strengths. It allows them to conduct business on a global scale while at the same time maintaining a local approach. Consequently, and additionally, it’s Coke’s international popularity. The company is known throughout the world. People from all over the world purchase and drink the different products it has. A weakness of the company is the health issues concerning their products. It affects the teeth, it also has sugar, and being addicted to coca-cola has consequences because it can cause health problems when taken regularly, especially to children.

On February 21, 2017, in Abuja, Nigerian Bottling Company Limited (NBC) was awarded the outstanding National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) Award by His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, President, and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Also, at the Guardian Manufacturing Excellence Awards, which held in Lagos, the Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) was recognized and presented the award of “Soft Drink Manufacturing Company of the Year, 2017” by The Guardian Newspaper, one of the foremost media organizations in Nigeria in collaboration with the African Development Studies Centre.
The HR People Magazine Awards awarded Nigerian Bottling Company Ltd (NBC) the coveted Outstanding Talent Strategy Award. The annual award celebrates outstanding achievements and excellence in the HR profession in Nigeria.
