Wahab Iyanda Folawiyo gave birth to Tijani Babatunde Folawiyo (often referred to as Tunde Folawiyo) on April 12, 1960 in Lagos, Nigeria. He serves as managing director of the Yinka Folawiyo Group, a company with interests in engineering, energy, agricultural, shipping, and real estate.
Biography
With his sisters Motunde Folawiyo, Fatima Folawiyo, Omowale Folawiyo, and Toyosi Folawiyo-Johnson, and brothers Bolaji Folawiyo, Bayo Folawiyo, Lanre Folawiyo, and Yomi Folawiyo, Folawiyo grew up in Lagos. He attended elementary school in Lagos, Nigeria, and after graduating from the London School of Economics and Political Science with a bachelor’s in 1980 and from University College London with a bachelor’s in 1984, he pursued a career in law. He received his Master of Laws in 1985 from University College London as well.
Tunde Folawiyo’s Career
On his return to Nigeria, Folawiyo started his legal career in 1985 at the Ogunsanya company. He left the practice in 1989 and created Energy Limited, which went on to construct a storage facility in 2004 that can handle 30% of the nation’s motor gasoline. Folawiyo was appointed vice president of the Nigeria Association of Indigenous Petroleum Explorers and Productions in 1996 as a result of this feat. Folawiyo is an art enthusiast and a supporter of South African artist William Kentridge, who is well-known for his impressionist illustrations, prints, and animated movies. Lawyers who defended victims of apartheid were Kentridge’s parents. The artist’s work, which may be among the most expensive and sought-after in South Africa, frequently reflects social injustice in South African history.
He belongs to the network of philanthropic persons who assist the growth of young people known as the Duke of Edinburgh World Fellowship. The fellowship convenes at prestigious gatherings all across the world, such as the World Fellowship Anniversary Dinner, which is often hosted at a London castle. Folawiyo, a supporter of educational advancement, is a member of the governing councils at Lagos State University and Crescent University in Nigeria. In addition, Folawiyo serves on the worldwide advisory board of the African Leadership Academy, a pan-African organization whose goals include the eradication of poverty and sickness in Africa, political stability, and economic progress. For publishing an article about an alleged affair, Folawiyo had the publisher and editor of Global Excellence Magazine jailed in 2013. Segun Ogunbunmi, a publisher, spent four days in jail after being “promised hell in court and many days in the dumps” for not sending Folawiyo a letter of apology. Global Excellence Magazine’s editor, Kunle Rasheed, filed a lawsuit against Folawiyo for “malicious damages.”
From October 11th, 2005, to January 29th, 2014, Tunde served as a non-executive director of Access Bank Plc (formerly Access Bank Nigeria). He is a director for MTN Nigeria Ltd. as well.

Faridah is one of the children born from the union of Folawiyo and Renie. Rumors of a romance between Folawiyo and married former beauty queen Ifeoma Williams surfaced in 2013. According to rumors, after discovering texts on the billionaire’s phone, Folawiyo’s wife suspected the affair and brought it up in conversation. After his father passed away in 2008, he took over the company. He was “…one of the icons of Nigerian industry and a pillar of Islam,” according to Highbeam.com.
